There are some travel videos that make you want to visit a destination, and others that make you feel as though you’ve already spent the day there. Tim and Fin manage to do both with this wonderfully entertaining journey through the Tuscan countryside.

Spending a week in Italy’s Chianti region, they set out for a day at Tenuta Torciano, a family-run winery near San Gimignano. What begins as a wine experience quickly becomes much more.

More Than a Wine Tasting

They’re welcomed personally by Pierluigi, a 13th-generation winemaker who describes himself first and foremost as a farmer. His enthusiasm immediately changes the feeling of the visit. Instead of simply moving from one tasting glass to another, Tim and Fin are introduced to the traditions and work behind the wine.

They wander through olive groves and vineyards, explore the cellar, meet the truffle-hunting dogs, search for truffles and even head into the vineyard to pick grapes. Then comes one of those classic Tuscany experiences: climbing into a barrel and stomping grapes the old-fashioned way.

What makes all of this so enjoyable is Tim and Fin themselves. They have a natural ability to talk to the camera as though you’re traveling right alongside them. Their humor and back-and-forth keep the experience lighthearted from beginning to end.

When the Wine Starts Flowing…

Eventually, they sit down beneath a beautiful gazebo for what turns into an impressive Tuscan feast paired with glass after glass of wine. There’s salami, local olive oil and balsamic vinegar, lasagna, pasta, truffle oil, meat, potatoes, dessert—and considerably more wine than they were expecting.

As the tasting continues, things get progressively sillier. By the later glasses, their attempt to turn the wine tasting into musical notes tells you just about everything you need to know.

This is exactly why Sonja and I wanted to feature this video. It isn’t just beautiful Tuscany or great food and wine—it’s fun. Tim and Fin make you feel like you’ve been invited along for the day, and by the end you may find yourself smiling almost as much as they are.
